Local Guide: What To Do In Cottesloe
Scroll

Nestled in the coastal suburb of Cottesloe in Perth is Assembly Label’s newest store. Affectionally referred to as ‘Cott’ by locals, this historic area is home to more than just great beaches – it’s also a lively hub for retail, restaurants, wine bars and galleries – many of which rub shoulders with our new bricks and mortar space on Napoleon Street. With so much to offer within this idyllic coastal suburb, we suggest making a day out of your visit. Get to know Cottesloe better with our guide on where to dine, swim, shop and more.

Get your caffeine fix

While there’s no shortage of great places to caffeinate yourself in this neighbourhood, Il Lido is considered something of an institution to locals. Holding a prime position directly parallel to Cottesloe Beach, this coffee spot offers a great brew using beans from local roastery, Mano a Mano. Should you wish to stay a while and make the most of the al fresco seating, Il Lido also happens to be an all-day eatery with an Italian menu and award-winning wine list, making it a great destination to park up for aperitivo hour.

Cool off with a beach dip

With temperatures averaging around 31 degrees in Perth during the summer months, an ocean dip is always a top priority. No Cottesloe visit is complete without a wander down its iconic beach, so once you’ve grabbed yourself a cup of Il Lido’s signature 12-hour cold drip coffee, be sure to head over the road.  Most easily recognised by the shady Norfolk pines that line its perimeter, as well as its striking white sand and crystal-clear water, this beach is the perfect spot to partake in a bit of snorkelling or swimming. Once you’ve cooled off, we highly suggest bringing a good book and making the most of the sunshine.

Grab a sweet treat

Among our list of must-try all-day dining spots in Cottesloe is North Street Store – a quaint bakery and restaurant with a laidback 1950s-style fit-out. Though best known for their indulgent cinnamon scrolls, one of their freshly baked loaves or filled rolls would certainly not go amiss during a mid-morning visit. Get in early, though, as lines down the block are not uncommon.

Go furniture shopping

Specialising in beautifully restored, mid-century and Danish modern furniture of all varieties, Hunters & Collectors is a vintage-lover’s dream. Be it a new couch, a set of bar stools or a one-of-a-kind candle holder, each piece in the store’s offering has been meticulously curated – so rest assured you’ll find something that you like.

Indulge in local Italian

After perusing the newly opened Assembly Label store on Napoleon Street, stroll down the road to Sal’s Pasta Deli, where you’ll find some of the finest Italian fare in all of Perth. Established by chef Paul “Sal” Salmeri, who spent eight years cooking pasta around Italy, the namesake deli has cemented itself as a local favourite – and between the freshly-made pasta and traditional desserts – it’s little wonder why.

Culture yourself

Round your day off by getting a spot of culture in at Gullotti Gallery. Founded by Paul Gullotti, Gullotti Galleries represents a dynamic line up of international and Australian artists, both new and emerging, who specialise in contemporary works. With new exhibitions and events popping up regularly, there’s sure to be something interesting on the calendar when you stop by.

Peps Wine Bar

If its rustic facade isn’t enough to entice you in, its wine list sure will. Finish off your day of shopping and splurging with aperitivo hour at Pep’s, a friendly neighbourhood wine bar offering classic cocktails and wines by the glass. Should you wish to stay for dinner, they also offer a delicious selection of casual plates.
