Summer Reading With Writer Rosie Dalton

Summer Reading With Writer Rosie Dalton
Scroll

As a writer, I spend a lot of time reading and writing for work. Next month, for example, I am launching a subscription-based Sunday Story and, this summer, I am also excited to announce my very first book.

So, while the past few months have been absorbed with much reading, writing, and re-reading of my own words, the sunshine months ahead will be a time to finally catch up on my summer reading list.

Here is what I will be reading over the holiday season.

01. Outline by Rachel Cusk

The Outline Trilogy has been on my list for a while now and it is included in the art book club that I am part of. So I am excited to delve into book number one over the summer.

02. Cosmicomics by Italo Calvino

This book is a new favourite! Beautifully imaginative short stories revolving around the subject of the universe and its origins.

03. Lee by Assouline

I am fascinated by the world of Lee Radziwill and Jackie Kennedy. I read The Fabulous Bouvier Sisters two summers ago, so this summer it is all about Assouline’s Lee

04. Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote

This Truman Capote classic is an old favourite of mine and I’m feeling a reread coming on soon. There is nothing quite like a timeless novella, for tucking into your weekend bag.

05. Let Me Tell You What I Mean by Joan Didion

I love Joan Didion’s essay collections like The White Album and Slouching Towards Bethlehem, so I can’t wait to explore her latest series, Let Me Tell You What I Mean

06. The Anatomy of a Myth — CHANEL

I am excited to flip through this special coffee table book by CHANEL, which details the storied history of their iconic No. 5 fragrance.

07. Beautiful World, Where Are You by Sally Rooney

A coming of age tale about female friendship, I have been saving Sally Rooney’s latest novel for road trips up and down the coast these holidays.

08. Munkey Diaries by Jane Birkin

I am also planning to reread the beautiful memoirs of Jane Birkin this summer, while lying on a beach somewhere and pretending that it is St Tropez.

09. The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur

I love the poetry of Rupi Kaur and am really looking forward to getting lost in her magic words over lazy Sundays spent in bed.

10. JANE Issue Ten

I penned a few pieces for JANE Issue Ten and am excited to pore over some of the other poetry, features, and photography throughout these beautiful pages.
