At Home With Holly McCauley

At Home With Holly McCauley
Holly McCauley is a creative all-rounder who packed up her city life in Sydney and moved to Bangalow on the far north coast of NSW, where she now lives in a laid-back fibro shack with daughter Della and Partner Nich. Having worked for Frankie magazine and Smack Bang Designs, Holly now freelances and runs Yeah Nice Gallery in Mullumbimby. We visited Holly and her family at their home to chat about how she likes to spend her weekends and her favourite local spots.

Hi Holly, you have such a warm and welcoming home, tell us a little bit about where you live and the surroundings?

We live our happiest life in our little home in Bangalow on a quiet street, surrounded by palm trees.

How would you describe your ideal day?

A perfect day would be a little sleep in, followed by coffee, a morning at the beach, followed by a drive through the countryside, a roadside lunch and beer, an afternoon nap then drinks with mates and a home-cooked dinner.

Can you tell us about your favourite local go-to spots for coffee, food and drinks?

The Roadhouse for a cocktail, Yeah Nice Gallery for good art, Lismore Car Boot for shopping, Mullumbimby Farmers Market for fresh food, The Northern for happy hour beer and Bay Pho for a bowl of noodles.

What's one thing you can't live without?

Quality time spent together, sunshine, good food and booze.

What are you currently listening to and reading right now? Any gems to share with us?

Paul Kelly's biography, How to Make Gravy (Nich) and Burmese Days by George Orwell (Holly) with Pink Floyd and Rolling Blackouts on the record player.

Finally, what inspires you?

Future dreaming.
