This gifting season, Assembly Label presents a curated collection of hand-made and one-of-a-kind objects by local artisans. Each piece is handmade in Australia and serves as a thoughtful gift or functional piece for your home.
Montana World
Montana World is a multi-disciplinary studio founded by Montana Purchase. Montana started experimenting with wood turning in 2021 and released her first collection in 2022. She works between the Northern Rivers of NSW and Southern QLD and creates functional objects with locally sourced and reclaimed timber.
Nathan White
Nathan White is a landscape designer in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs, having recently delved into sculpture in his spare time. White began by chiseling remnant off cuts of various stones from job sites to make sculptures and one-off functional pieces. ‘IDLES’ is Nathan's first official collection of functional sculptures made from the lightweight, recyclable material hebel. Each piece is hand carved and intricately designed paying homage to Greek architecture, ancient relics and the broader Mediterranean - ‘IDLES’ look like something one could find on a far-away island somewhere in Europe.
Claire Ellis
Claire Ellis is a Canadian-born emerging ceramic artist and designer based in Naarm (Melbourne). While working as a chef at the internationally acclaimed restaurant in Naarm, Attica, Claire made tableware for the tasting menu and created a ceramics studio within the restaurant. Claire’s chef experience influences her work through a focus on raw materials and experimentation. Her research focuses on incorporating transformed local by-products into her work including glass, plastic, eggshells, ceramic sink sludge, broken ceramics and stone. Her current art practice explores avenues for environmentalism, activism and catharsis in ceramics.
